Here is this month's featured tip:

While searching English parish registers and transcripts from the 1600's my brother and I noticed that the year did not roll over on January 1st but rather a variable day in march - presumably the spring equinox. When looking for a birth, death, marriage or other event falling between Jan 1st and the end of March in a specific year during the 1600's or earlier, try searching the records for the year before and the one following. Be sure to check the original source to verify your findings whenever possible.
